Kuchinoerabu Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Ryugo NakamuraKuchinoerabu Island, which is located at Yakushima-cho of Kagoshima, is the depopulated remote island of 110 people. We found humanity that is almost lost at urban areas in lifestyle of Kuchinoerabu Island and had aimed creating the community revitalizing model based on ownership of that area, collaborating with islanders from viewpoints of Architecture & Education. Providing an opportunity for thinking about future with islanders and teaching to children, and conducting natural construction is main purpose for this year.

Congo ACADEX elementary school Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Keisuke FukutaThis project is based on fieldwork consisting of construction and management of an elementary school in Kimbondo, a small village near Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project started in 2008 and this year the project is reaching its 9th year. This project is working from three divisions; Yoko Hasebe Lab as education team, Hiroto Kobayashi Lab. (KobLab) as construction team, and the African Medical Research Laboratory as medical team. Through collaboration, this project aims for a better education in DRC.

Glocal English Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Takako ShimamotoWe do English workshop to bring global perspective into public middle school. Our workshop is for middle school students to exchange culture and learn English not only as a school subject but also as a communication tool.

Japanese Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Kaoru ManabeThis project is a project aiming at breaking barriers caused by linguistic and cultural differences based on Japanese and Japanese culture. Starting with the activities of Japanese classes and Japanese culture introduction workshops in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It became an independent project in 2012. After that, we cooperated with Japanese language classes for embassies in Japan and international students in the university and collaborated with outside NPO corporations to extend the activities to exchange students with international students inside and outside the campus. Currently, we are working on developing teaching materials for children to introduce Japanese class at junior high school in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Community Design Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Risa TomitaThis project is aimed to "establish the local-academic collaboration" between the Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) and the neighboring Endo, Fujisawa community. The Endo area is known for its variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables as well as its locally raised meat. Ever since the project started in 2015, members have been working with local farmers and other community members to find more ways to promote the history and value of the community's culture. By hosting events with the local community, this project is hoping for a sustainable relationship with Endo and Keio SFC.

Local Active-Learning Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Azusa Torii本プロジェクトは、教育を切り口とした地域活性をテーマに長野県木曽郡木曽町開田高原をフィールドに活動しています。学校や行政、地域の方々と協力体制を作りながら、信州型コミュニティスクールの一環として、生徒の多様な学びの一端を担うことを目指しています。今年度は、地域の中学生を対象に留学生や海外の同世代との異文化交流を通し自文化への理解を深めるワークショップを行いました。私たちは、アクティブラーニングを「自分で考えて能動的に行動すること」と定義し、多様な人がお互いに働きかけ、能動的に学んでいくプロジェクトとして活動しています。
