Mechanism for Understanding Others' Gaze

Person in Charge of the Project : Masaki MoriHow does human understand others' gaze? In particular, how can he correctly restore the estimated fixation point from others' gaze direction? Gaze perception is the critical element of communication, and its property needs to be understood precisely. Furthermore, it is desired to be clarified in a cross-sectional way with differences according to the age and disability. In the ORF for the current year, we will introduce our project concerning gaze perception. Specifically, we will demonstrate our psychological experiment by using experimental apparatus and program actually utilized for the studies.

The numbers in your mind

Person in Charge of the Project : Mieko Kajiyama One is good at calculation. One is no good at calculation. What is the difference? How can we learn, understand, and operate numbers? Numbers abound in our lives. How about thinking about the idea of number again? Curiously there are people who have difficulty only in learning calculation in spite of the fact that they have no problem about other things. I would introduce numbers in your mind through dyscalculia as I mentioned earlier and a simple experiment.

Facial Emotion Recognition and Expression Person in Charge of the Project

Person in Charge of the Project : Marie TakahashiFacial emotions play one of the important roles on communication such as knowing someone's feeling and expressing our feeling. However, although facial expression differ from one person to another, why we can recognize the others' facial emotion? By this presentation, I will explain how we see and figure out the others' facial emotion, and analyze your emotions by using software that analyzes facial expressions. Please come and experience the depths of people's facial expressions.
