A honey supports Men's Gymnastics performance on parallel bars

Graduate School of Media and GovernanceYuji Ohgi

In gymnastics parallel bars, friction between hands and parallel bars is important for the gymnasts. In my study, I have been explored to find a honey with high anti-slip performance. A parallel bar sample model fixed to a force platform was used to simulate the separation of the hands. The force acting on the parallel bar was measured and the frictional force was estimated. I also conducted interviews with the players. The results showed that the players preferred natural honey rather than processed honey. In addition, the change in content of pollen in honey influenced to the player's subjective assessment. It was suggested that the frictional force may vary with the amount of pollen contained in natural honey.
