The Current Situation and Problems of Medical care for Foreign Patients in Japan -Focusing on Mental Health Care-

Person in Charge of the Project : Shinko HosoyaThe number of foreigners living in and visiting Japan is ever increasing as globalization expands. As we are anticipating the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, the number of foreign patients is expected to rise even more. However, looking at the current situation of medical care for foreign patients in Japan, various issues are seen between health care professionals and foreign patients. These problems are often caused by the difference in language and culture. Here, I will introduce the current situation and problems of medical care for foreign patients from the perspective of mental health care.

Examination of strategies to alleviate the mental burden of family caregivers living with people with dementia

Person in Charge of the Project : Takako TeraokaIn this project, we show how the family caregiver perceives the nursing care situation and how to cope with the elderly with dementia presenting BPSD, which is a major factor of care burden feeling. And I would like to consider what kind of things are necessary to alleviate the mental burden of carers in the future.

Support for child abuse in Finland -Care of psychiatric nurses-

Person in Charge of the Project : Eiko NishiikeThe prevention of child abuse in Japan is tackled by national and local governments and various private organizations based on child welfare laws and child abuse prevention laws. As a result, the number of reports has increased, but there is a situation where the case which leads to disastrous result is not decreased by the delay of intervention etc. I will introduce activities that take advantage of care by nurses who specialize psychiatric nursing in Finland, known as the precedent of pioneering initiatives in support for prevention of Child abuse.
