Passive backscatter communications are extensively used in Radar and RFID. Because of the inherent low complexity and low power requirement in the transponder side, backscatter communication can be conveniently used in wireless and low power or even battery-less sensing. In this research, we developed a technique to communicate in Frequency Division Multiple Access for passive backscatter communications. Since the technique can realize perfectly synchronized battery-less and wireless sensing, we aim to apply this for Structure Health Monitoring.
In source tagging era, we can uniquely identify each merchandise with an ID encoded in barcode or RFID tag. The source tagging facilitates and produces new services such as sharing wardrobes with friends, valuation of used things according to the trade and usage history, food consumption based on their expiration dates and automatic notification of product recall. In this exhibition, we demonstrate a prototype of information system in the source tagging era.
