Tochu-tea has been popular as a functional health food since long time ago. Recent research on its ingredients, health effects have been conducted so far. The previous study have reported that a component (ASP) which is one of the ingredients in Tochu-tea, has an anti-obesity effect. We conducting research toward elucidating its mechanism. In our studies, ASP improved the lipid metabolism in the liver and showed a molecular mechanism to suppress obesity. It is expected to have potential as a new functional ingredient containing food in the future. And we expected its relevance to various metabolic diseases.
