For care givers with elderly patients at home or in facilities, supplementary care for the patients to spend their daily lives is crucial. It is particularly important for the care givers who give skincare, including excretory care and wound care, to have a basic knowledge of skin anatomical physiology and familiarity with related techniques. This lecture illustrates features seen in elderly patients’ skin, and introduces best practices for their skincare, focusing on a) dry skin, b) Incontinence Associated Dermatitis: IAD, and c) skin tear.
