Session Number:PS-02

Creating space to make oneself situated – not resource but asset –

20 FRI
14:20 - 15:50 Tokyo Midtown Tower 4F Conference room7

We are able to obtain assets for enriching our life by having a design mind to find out some “seeds” that implicitly exist in our personal life and public spaces. This session discusses this notion; the existence of “seeds” of this sort and the notion of design mind are easily neglected both in our lives and in academic researches. What we want to deal with is assets, not resources, because as long as we call them resources, we would not be able to discuss mental attitudes and design minds that make oneself situated in spaces. We discuss this issue from multiple perspectives, such as sociology, cognitive science, communication design, architecture, and media science.
