Are you familiar with the term biodiversity? People's lives depend on the many blessings of nature. These are called ecosystem services. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, there has been a growing trend to focus on flood mitigation and its application to disaster prevention and disaster reduction. However, much of Japan's nature is secondary nature that has been maintained by human hands, and therefore human intervention is essential for the benefit of ecosystem services. Why don't we all think about how to interact with nature for the realization of a sustainable society?
