Pepper the entertainer project
Person in Charge of the Project : Hiromi Shirai
Shirai Laboratory is studying about "What attracts people" in terms of verbal and non-verbal fields. This year's goal is to use the accomplishments made so far to "the cooperation of humans and robots." As our first aim, we are studying "manzai (a type of comedy act) done by human and Pepper" with Peppers (Yoshimoto Kogyo), and are doing everything from making the skits to developing programs, making applications, and performing manzai acts. Also, from the perspective of discourse analysis, we are analyzing about supportive responses, timings, stereotypical speeches, giving characters, and so on, and are conducting numerous demonstration experiments. In this way, we are designing workshops on creating "manzai of human and Pepper" as well.
