According to the investigation by IICP (Institute for Information and Communications Policy), the rate of our usage of twitter has reached 17.5% in 2013, and still increases every year. How do the twitter users communicate with each other through this not-face-to-face service, which is composed of only textual data? One of its characteristic methods is “favoring” (mark others’ tweets as a favorite), and we can see today that many users favoring other users’ “silly” tweets. We analyze their behavior by using the theory of politeness, and by looking at the conversational closings.
